Tottenham's new strongest starting XI: Omar Marmoush straight in as last season regular dropped

Roberto De Zerbi has plenty of new options at Tottenham Hotspur when selecting his line-ups this season.

The Italian has been handed loads of selection headaches that many Premier League managers would be happy to have.

This season has not gone how the Lilywhites would have wanted so far, but there is plenty of time to turn this winless start to the Premier League campaign around.

They simply must do so, with expectatons from the fanbase continuing to build after spending over £300million.

De Zerbi will undoubtely be looking to solve those issues on the training ground, further instilling his stlye into the players.

And he will also need to decide what his best starting lineup is.

Who starts at the back for Tottenham if everyone is fit?

It will be no surprise to see Antonin Kinsky take the goalkeeper spot, with the Czech shot-stopper De Zerbi's current first-choice.

Andy Robertson's experience make him a top option for the Lilywhites at the back, while Pedro Porro simply has to start when available on the right.

The interesting decisions for De Zerbi, though, come in central defence.

Micky van de Ven has been named captain, so it would be strange to see him not start when fit.

And with him being left-footed, Marcos Senesi is unlikely to be played alongside him.

So, on the right, it would be between Tosin Adarabioyo and Jan Paul van Hecke, with the Dutchman ultimately winning this battle.

Van Hecke has been one of the early standouts so far, averaging a 7.6 match rating over Tottenham's first three competitive matches as per Sofascore.

Additionally, he has been strong in his duels, winning 63 per cent of them, while averaging a 94 per cent pass accuracy.

Tottenham have nearly too many central midfielders to choose from for just three positions.

In the squad, there are as many as nine players who can play at least one of the midfield roles if the whole squad is fit.

However, one player who may end up being a casualty is Rodrigo Bentancur. The Uruguayan was a regular for Spurs last season when fit, but could be set for a back-up role this campaign.

In 2025-26, Bentancur featured in just 26 Premier League games, but of those appearances, he started 23.

In the early stages of his campaign, the 29-year-old has started all three games, but that may now change.

As De Zerbi's full squad comes into picture, young versatile midfielder Archie Gray may come back into the centre of the pitch.

The Italian manager clearly rates Gray, who did captain Tottenham in their opening game against Brentford.

Alongside him, big-money arrivals Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes are likely going to fill out the remaining two spots.

In the forward line, Savio will join Omar Marmoush in a Manchester City of reunion of sorts in N17, with the returning Mohammed Kudus starting on the right.

Tottenham certainly do have a strong squad, with no place for Lucas Bergvall, Mykhailo Mudryk or Dominic Solanke, as well as the previously mentioned squad members who miss out.

While it is also unclear on how James Maddison will perform after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

The squad has been built to capture both youth and experience, with Transfermarkt having the average age listed at 26.6.
