'Tottenham star reminds me of Aaron Lennon, but I hope there's more to come'

Tottenham star Savio brings back memories of Aaron Lennon.

That is the view of Spurs expert John Wenham, after the former Manchester City star's performance in the 1-1 draw against Manchester United.

Lennon played 364 times for the Lilywhites, with 30 goals and 76 assists to his name.

He is a fan favourite in North London after being part of the side that won the 2007-08 League Cup.

The Brazilian, meanwhile, has just joined, with six matches under his belt and one goal and one assist.

Wenham sees a similarity between the two players, but warned Savio that he must do more.

Why has Savio earned Aaron Lennon comparison?

The Lilywhite Rose account owner believes that the two have the same ability to excite supporters.

However, he is concerned about the end product from the current Spurs ace, something which was not the case with Lennon.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he said: “Savio just seems to run at pace and can beat anybody with quick feet and trickery, but then there's no end product.

“The first player he kind of reminds me of is Aaron Lennon. Lennon was a quick winger that gets people off their seats.

“But he did score some important goals in big games, so I hope there's more to come from Savio, but he just looks really, really quick without the end product.”

Should supporters be concerned about Savio's lack of end product?

Do Tottenham need to worry about Savio's goal and assist ratio?

Roberto De Zerbi obviously saw something in the 22-year-old that made him want to bring him to N17 in the summer transfer window.

His final season with the Citizens does not inspire confidence, though, that he can score and assist regularly, as he only managed three contributions in 24 league matches.

However, perhaps he does not need to, if he can stretch defences with his blistering pace, it could leave space for others to exploit and help Tottenham out that way.

The likes of Dominic Solanke, James Maddison and Mohammed Kudus could benefit from Savio taking defenders out of the equation.

So he can still be dangerous for Spurs, even if he is not contributing on the stats sheet.
