Tottenham player ratings vs Newcastle: Pedro Porro experiment backfires, teammate even worse

De Zerbi made the bold call to start Porro on the wing and in truth it did not work.

Mathys Tel failed to take the most of an opportunity that could very well be one of his last in the starting lineup in the Premier League.

With Savio's injury and Mohammed Kudus not ready to start, the Frenchman was the only real wide option available.

Against Newcastle, he failed to take his chance.

His performance simply lacked substance and his final action to send a free-kick miles over the bar and into the stands summed up his performance.

As per FotMob, while Tel had the joint-most touches in the opposition box (seven) by the time he went off, he did little with it.

He created zero chances and had just one shot on target.

Additionally, he failed with both of his attempted dribbles and won just one out of six duels.
