Pedro Porro has become indispensable at Tottenham Hotspur and looks like he could be around for a while longer yet.

Since joining from Portuguese giants Sporting in 2023, the Spaniard has remained ever so reliable for the Lilywhites.

He would develop into one of the league's standout full-backs initially, before his reputation took a hit as Spurs' form dipped.

Clubs had been linked with a move for the defender, though he has committed his future with a new deal until 2031.

As Roberto De Zerbi looks to throw Spurs back up the standings, Porro will play a key role.

And based on the numbers from last season, his level of importance will only grow.

There are issues present with defensive side of his game, but Porro is one of the most technically gifted full-backs out there.

He did score just once and register two assists in the 2025-26 season, but this is not at all his fault.

With 53 chances created, no other full-back in the division matched Porro, with only Marc Cucurella and Hugo Bueno coming anywhere near with 39 and 38.

At the same time, the Spaniard tops the charts for accurate long balls per 90 in his position, with 4.3 compared to Kieran Trippier's 2.8.

In possession he has continued to prove crucial inverting into central zones, with De Zerbi not exactly blessed with ball playing options in the middle of the park.

And this is backed up with 2,429 touches and 4.5 expected assists - once again the most of anyone in the division.

Had Spurs been more clinical in front of goal, Porro's numbers would be even better - and this will only improve as the Lilywhites themselves do.

What has Pedro Porro said about recent Tottenham struggles?

After successive 17th-place finishes, Tottenham fans desperately want to see their club back among those at the top end of the standings.

The last thing the Lilywhites need during this reset process is a group of players who do not want to be there - Porro most certainly avoids falling into that group.

"I'm very happy," he told Marca as he spends the summer with the Spanish national team.

On the noise surrounding the club during the relegation battle, he outlines that he stood firm, saying: "My mindset was to see it through, whatever it took. Every day I went to training thinking about helping the club get out of that situation because I felt it was my responsibility.

"What people think is secondary. At the end of the day, it's you yourself who works and lives with the situation.

"There will always be people who think well or badly of you. I prefer to stick with the people who love me."

The feeling around Porro as a character has shifted in recent months, with the Spaniard more than stepping up when called upon in the relegation battle.

He has proven himself to be a talisman in North London, and long may that continue.
