Tottenham Hotspur could have the next Luka Modric on their hands.

The North London club have long had a tradition of bringing academy talents through into the first-team picture.

There is a hope that the likes of Luca Williams-Barnett will be the next on the conveyor belt.

It won't stop there as there are so many other top talents making their way through the ranks.

That has seen the under-21s side become a force to be reckoned with at the top end of Premier League 2.

It is a member of that squad that is drawing comparisons to Modric, in the shape of Harry Byrne.

What makes Harry Byrne so like Luka Modric?

There are so many names breaking through in the youth ranks on Hotspur Way that are catching the eye.

The likes of Tyrese Hall, Tye Hall, Jun'ai Byfield and Malachi Hardy are just some of the names garnering attention.

That has seen Byrne fly under the radar after breaking through with the ability to feature as a left-back and central midfielder.

He continues to do exactly that, but John Wenham believes he deserves more credit.

The Lilywhite Rose account owner has picked him out in North London and have made a telling comparison to Modric.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: "He's not as hyped by many yet, but Harry Byrne is an exceptional footballer. Technically so good.

"o many times, he picks it up deep in possession, nine out of 10 players would pass it back to the right-back, the keeper or concede possession. He does little flicks, like a Modric-level pass to set an attack going forward.

"He has gone under the radar, I think his breakthrough will come next season. I think he will get a lot of recognition in the pre-season tour."

That will certainly raise eyebrows in N17, but when could he make his debut?

When could Byrne make his Tottenham debut?

There are already so many talents looking to get gametime under Roberto De Zerbi right now.

The thing is with football, storylines don't always play out the way you expect.

That could work to the advantage of Byrne, who isn't been credited in the same way as the likes of Williams-Barnett, Byfield and Hardy.

He already has one appearance to his name in the shape of 12 minutes against Sydney FC in the summer.

With FA Cup commitments emerging in the new year, that could pose a chance for the Irishman.

Otherwise, it may be next season that becomes the breakout for Byrne.

It will now be interesting to see how he fares in PL2 and what that means by the time next summer's pre-season tour comes around.
