The storm clouds continue to gather at Tottenham Hotspur.

Despite splurging over £300million during the summer transfer window, Spurs have made a dreadful start to the Premier League campaign.

Saturday's 3-2 defeat to Aston Villa at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium leaves Roberto De Zerbi's side with just two points from five league games.

Consequently, Spurs enter the first international break of the season bottom of the Premier League.

Spurs were also knocked out of the EFL Cup by Liverpool last Tuesday to really add to the misery.

Here, Tottenham News looks at three questions to have emerged from the past seven days?

Is Roberto De Zerbi now under genuine pressure at Tottenham?

There was always an acceptance that it might take Spurs a bit of time to properly gel after all the changes to the squad in the summer.

But no one expected to be winless through five games, and sitting rock bottom of the table heading into October.

The frustrating thing is that Spurs were looked pretty decent until capitulating to 3-0 down at home to Villa.

Late goals from Conor Gallagher and Jan Paul van Hecke at least saw them get their first Premier League goals of the campaign.

But is De Zerbi now facing the genuine threat of the sack just months after his rescue act last season? His side will need to hit the ground running when the action resumes next month or the Italian is in real trouble.

Do Tottenham have a Jan Paul van Hecke problem?

Spurs spent £52million to sign Van Hecke from Brighton in the summer, reuniting him with De Zerbi who coached him at the Amex Stadium.

The Dutch centre-back's late goal cannot mask what was a really difficult outing against Villa, though.

He was not the only one who was out of sorts defensively, but considering the outlay Spurs made he is facing a lot of scrutiny.

De Zerbi might already have to consider whether his expensive signing might have to be sat on the bench when the season resumes.

Have Omar Marmoush and Savio actually improved Tottenham's attack?

It was little secret that Tottenham needed reinforcements in the final third during the summer.

But the arrivals of Savio and Omar Marmoush from Manchester City have thus far done little to inspire confidence improvements have been made.

Savio still has issues with his decision making and final ball, while Marmoush just isn't making the impact Spurs need.

With Dominic Solanke struggling to fire up top, and Mateus Fernandes already facing scrutiny from De Zerbi, there is a big concern about Spurs' quality in attack.

De Zerbi has to find a solution and fast, becaue Spurs cannot afford to keep losing ground.
