Supercomputer predicts Tottenham's chances vs Aston Villa in Premier League showdown

Tottenham Hotspur will be hoping to grab their first win of the Premier League season against Aston Villa on Saturday.

The Lilywhites have just one win in six games in all competitions so far this season, only finding the net twice.

A poor start to the campaign has external pressure starting to mount on Roberto De Zerbi, who remains convinced that Spurs can turn things around.

Unai Emery's side haven't had much rub of the green either, with just one point and one goal to their name after four Premier League matches.

However, the Villans won a Carabao Cup clash against Coventry City on Wednesday, firing three past the Sky Blues to boost confidence.

Perhaps that was the last thing that Tottenham wanted to see, as their home record against Villa has not been in the best in recent years.

Supercomputer prediction to give Tottenham hope vs Aston Villa

Tottenham have won just one of their last three home games against Aston Villa.

During that run, the Villans have racked up three 2-1 victories and a 2-0 win, while Spurs beat Emery's side 4-1 in November of 2024.

Both sides are looking for their first win of the Premier League season, but Opta's supercomputer has given the hosts the better chance of taking all three points.

The supercomputer has given Tottenham a 48.6 per cent chance of winning, with Villa's possibility of gaining three points standing at 26.5 per cent.

This leaves a 24.9 per cent chance of a draw, which neither side will really want.

De Zerbi's win percentage with Tottenham is currently 31 per cent, which is the lowest out of any of his previous four clubs.

He had a 43 per cent win percentage with Brighton, and needs to get back to his best for the Lilywhites sooner rather than later.

Thankfully, he may have a secret weapon to use to stump Emery.

Tottenham given huge boost in injury update ahead of Aston Villa

Tottenham have had major injury issues in the past two seasons, but are hoping their curse is behind them.

Dejan Kulusevski missed the entirety of last season through injury, but is set for a return to action soon.

The Lilywhites are said to be taking it easy with the right-winger, which still makes him a doubt for the game.

But there have been positive signs in Kulusevski's progress for a while now, so could Tottenham be hoping to bluff Villa?

Either way, a win here would spread even more positivity in N17 before a return to action after the international break.
