Supercomputer predicts Tottenham's chances in Premier League opener vs Brentford
It won't be far for Roberto De Zerbi's side to travel, with just a trip across London awaiting them.
The Italian has now had time to add his own players to the squad while also instilling his philosophy.
So pressure will be on De Zerbi to start his first full season in the best possible fashion.
Brentford were a surprise package last season, competing for European football up until the final day.
And the supercomputer has now shared Tottenham's chances of a win against the Bees.
What has the supercomputer predicted for Brentford vs Tottenham?
Tottenham look to be heading into the game at the Gtech Community Stadium as the underdogs.
At least according to the prediction made by Opta's supercomputer.
Ahead of the weekend, Spurs have been given a 34.9 per cent chance of coming away with all three points.
Meanwhile, the hosts have a slightly higher chance at 40.7 per cent.
A draw is the least likely outcome according to the projections, with a 24.4 per cent chance.
Overall, it is not the most promising outlook for the N17 side, but history may show why they actually have more of a chance than expected.
Why Tottenham can prove the supercomputer wrong
Tottenham will actually have plenty more hope than the supercomputer has given them ahead of their opening game.
In the last 10 matches between Spurs and the Bees, the latter has managed to win just one game, with the Lilywhites winning five and other four ending in a draw.
Additionally, Tottenham are historically strong starters in the Premier League.
They have only lost one of their last 10 matches in gameweek one of a Premier League season. This was a 1-0 defeat to Everton in 2020-2021.
Meanwhile, their London opponents have only won three of their last 14 opening matches.
Tottenham are also Brentford's joint-worst opponents in the Premier League alongside Arsenal.
The Bees have a tough time against North London opposition, with just a 10 per cent win rate against both.
And Spurs avoided defeat against them last season, too, despite their poor campaign.
Overall, history does point towards Tottenham having more of a chance than the supercomputer has credited them for and De Zerbi will certainly be looking to prove it wrong.
