Supercomputer predicts Tottenham's chances in opening home Premier League clash vs Newcastle

Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to bounce back from their opening weekend humiliation against Brentford.

The Lilywhites will have the chance to rectify their 3-0 defeat to the Bees against Newcastle in front of their home fans.

Roberto De Zerbi will no doubt have been working hard on the training ground in the build-up to this clash.

The Italian has also been boosted by two new attacking options with Omar Marmoush and Savio now in his squad.

Savio has already started life at Tottenham in fine fashion following the 5-1 win against Charlton Athletic in the Carabao Cup.

And the supercomputer has now predicted whether the Brazilian, and Spurs can make it back-to-back wins across all competitions.

What has the supercomputer predicted for Tottenham vs Newcastle?

Losing two on the bounce to kick off the Premier League would not be ideal for Tottenham, who will want to finally get points on the board.

And a tricky test against Newcastle will certainly not be an easy game to achieve that.

The Magpies took Liverpool to the wire, only missing out on a win themselves in the last minute of their game through a penalty.

But when it comes to the favourite in Tottenham versus Newcastle, it is Spurs who come out on top.

According to the Opta supercomputer, De Zerbi's side have a 42.7 per cent chance of winning.

While, Newcastle sit at 33.2 per cent with a draw the least likely result at 24.1 per cent.

While Tottenham being favourites is a positive, De Zerbi will have plenty of confidence based on Spurs' history throughout the years.

As shared by BBC Sport, the Lilywhites have not lost their first two league matches of a season since 2011-2012.

Additionally, they have yet to fail to score in either of their opening two fixtures since 1992-1993.

This fixture is unlikely to end goalless two, as in all of the 62 Premier League matchups between the Lilywhites and the Magpies, there has been at least one goal.

So, the signs are there for De Zerbi to produce a bounce-back result at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

And if supporters are to gain more confidence about this coming season and their chances of Europe, the Italian will need to follow both of these longstanding records.
