Luca Williams-Barnett was afforded an opportunity to display his talents for Tottenham Hotspur in pre-season.

Spurs faced off with Auckland FC on Saturday as part of their tour of New Zealand and Australia.

Roberto De Zerbi witnessed his side run out as 2-0 victors, with Dane Scarlett and Richarlison on target for the Lilywhites.

The Italian named a very youthful-looking starting XI, which was captained by Archie Gray.

Talented teenager Williams-Barnett was among the contingent who were handed a start against the New Zealand side.

And the 17-year-old will surely have impressed De Zerbi with how he acquitted himself in his pre-season audition.

How did Luca Williams-Barnett perform for Tottenham vs Auckland?

There is huge hope that Williams-Barnett can be a long-term success at Tottenham.

He made his first-team breakthrough with a late cameo off the bench in an EFL Cup tie against Doncaster Rovers last september.

Barnett-Williams signed his first professional contract with Spurs a month later, and now is attempting to catch the eye in pre-season.

Against Auckland, he did not finish with a key pass nor did any of his three attempted crosses end up successful.

But the teenager did accurately compete 19 of his 22 passes (86 per cent), with 15 of the 18 he tried in the opposition half (83 per cent) finding a team-mate.

Moreover, he had 12 total carries, ended with one successful dribble, and had a progressive carrying distance of 39.2 metres.

Defensively, he won four of his five ground dues, and also came out on top with his one aerial duel.

It was certainly a really solid out that will have impressed De Zerbi, but the youngster also earned high praise from fellow youngster Mikey Moore.

What did Mikey Moore say about Luca Barnett-Williams?

Tottenham News recently wrote about how Barnett-Williams will have caught the eye of Tottenham boss De Zerbi in pre-season.

But his team-mates are clearly impressed as well, judging by what 18-year-old Moore said about him after the game.

The winger, who spent last season on loan at Scottish Premiership outfit Rangers, spoke glowingly about the talents of Barnett-Williams.

In quotes reported by Football London, he said: "Luca is an unbelievable footballer.

"So it's nice to be able to help them (Spurs youngsters) and they're going to find their own way through it and experience it themselves as well.

"I think all the younger boys enjoyed it. You saw that today, they dealt with it really well to come away and deal with having 40,000 people in the stands. It was nothing for them, the boys were top."
