Roberto De Zerbi to wield the axe as Omar Marmoush position change tipped at Tottenham

Omar Marmoush will be shifted into the number 10 role for Tottenham.

That is the verdict from Spurs expert John Wenham, after what he witnessed against Nottingham Forest.

Roberto De Zerbi's side secured their first point of the season with a 0-0 draw at the City Ground.

Marmoush missed several opportunities in that contest, and Wenham believes that he could move back behind the striker

That position change would give Dominic Solanke the chance to start, and he is a much deadlier finisher.

However, it would also mean that De Zerbi has to axe a star who reportedly earns £200,000-per-week.

Who could be dropped to faciliate Omar Marmoush change?

Conor Gallagher should be the victim if Marmoush is shifted back to the number 10 role, according to Wenham.

He thinks that the change could come into force as early as the Lilywhites' next game, which is against Everton.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he said: "Conor Gallagher, who I've backed, was poor again, he kind of just went through the motions, just charging around, didn't actually offer anything.

"I don't think it will be too long, and maybe even against Everton, where we see him come out of the team and Marmoush drop a little bit deeper, maybe playing as a 10 or maybe Mohammed Kudus will play as a 10, having had another sub appearance yesterday, and Solanke will lead the line up front.

"I just think Marmoush doesn't have the right build to lead the line up front, whereas I think Solanke does, and I think we'll see Marmoush play behind him as a 10.

"I think that may come as soon as Everton, and once that does happen, I don't think we'll change that formation for a little while."

Whether his call for Gallagher to be axed is justified, that remains to be seen.

Does Gallagher deserve the axe from Tottenham side?

Gallagher deserves to be dropped, the evidence from the Forest game is clear.

He failed to create a chance for a teammate, despite having a pass accuracy of 94 per cent, according to Fotmob data.

The former Chelsea man had just one touch in the opposition box and made just three passes into the final third against Oliver Glasner's side.

Marmoush would likely have a much better impact than that, if De Zerbi wields the axe for the 12 September clash with the Blues.
