Roberto De Zerbi reveals Mohammed Kudus latest as Tottenham await return

Roberto De Zerbi will be hoping to get the best out of Mohammed Kudus at Tottenham this season.

The Ghana international made the move to North London from West Ham last summer.

There was an element of controversy to his move, but it appeared that the Lilywhites had picked up a top player.

That was proven when his pre-season and early Premier League performances seriously caught the eye.

His campaign was soon ruined by injury and Spurs went on to struggle from there.

Kudus is now preparing for a comeback as De Zerbi spoke out from New Zealand.

When will Mohammed Kudus return to training?

The 25-year-old made 26 appearances for the N17 outfit last season and contributed to eight goals and assists.

That sort of impact infront of goal was certainly missed when he was forced off against Sunderland in January.

He lasted just 19 minutes at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as he was replaced by Randal Kolo Muani.

Kudus has since been out with a hamstring injury and has missed 23 games to this point.

It now appears that there is light at the end of the tunnel as De Zerbi revealed when he expects the Ghanaian back.

Speaking from Spurs' New Zealand tour, the Italian said: "Mohammed Kudus is very close (to returning).

"When we get back to London, he will be able to start working with us."

That will see the versatile forward be absent for another two weeks as Spurs face three pre-season friendlies in Oceania until they return to face Getafe on Hotspur Way.

Tottenham need Kudus back now

There are plenty of reasons why the North Londoners struggled last season.

Most players just weren't good enough and deserved to find themselves at the bottom end of the Premier League.

They weren't helped by being without someone like Kudus who represented a true creative outlet.

In just 1545 Premier League minutes he created 23 chances for Spurs as he completed 240 passes with an 85 per cent accuracy.

He added to that with 52 successful dribbles and 107 duel wins that saw him cause a problem for opposition defences.

Kudus also showed a work rate with 133 defensive contributions that certainly made a difference tracking back.

De Zerbi will be keen to get him back as soon as possible and it seems that he could be ready for the early stages of the Premier League campaign.
