Tottenham can't forget Mohammed Kudus in excitement as ready-made difference maker returns
Tottenham Hotspur are preparing for a more prosperous season in the Premier League.
After successive 17th-place finishes, the only way is up in North London.
So far under Roberto De Zerbi, the signs have been positive, with wholesale improvements set to continue throughout the squad.
But amid all the excitement, there is one man going under the radar.
Mohammed Kudus spent a large period of his debut year on the sidelines, ruled out with a quad tendon injury that would be aggravated again upon his April return.
And as De Zerbi prepares for his first full season at the helm, staff and fans alike must be aware of the difference maker already present - someone who will only get better as Spurs do themselves.
Mohammed Kudus brings a lot from little - these numbers prove why
Following Thomas Frank's appointment last summer, Kudus made the move to North London from rivals West Ham, before quickly becoming one of the most influential players at Spurs.
While his output numbers did not necessarily skyrocket, Kudus was the real difference maker out wide for the Lilywhites, with his pace and physical attributes constantly causing a problem for opposition defences.
With pace to burn, he eats up ground better than most in the division, with 3.03 dribbles per 90, registering a ball carrying distance of 3131.2m.
He is a difference maker and a momentum shifter in every sense.
In a poorly functioning side, Kudus took on the mantle as a difference-maker, shown by his goal at Leeds.
And even after an underwhelming period for output, Spurs realised just how much they missed him in the second half of the season.
With Dejan Kulusevski and Wilson Odobert also sidelined, Tottenham were left without any genuine wide players.
And as Tottenham News have previously studied, the pair of Mathys Tel and Randal Kolo Muani continued to struggle in more unnatural roles.
The scary thing about Kudus, is that the sky is still the limit for the Ghanaian.
Can De Zerbi take Kudus to a whole new level?
At 25, the wideman is yet to hit his peak, while he is yet to be fully harnessed in the Premier League.
Last season, he registered just 54.23 touches per 90 - a far from ideal figure for a player with such momentum shifting abilities.
In a De Zerbi side guaranteed to be more proactive and dominant on the ball, this number will only increase, giving the Ghanian more chances to do what he does and cause chaos.
And under the Italian, his output in the final third will only improve with quality around him, both to feed him in behind, or as bodies for him to provide for
Kudus has not fully made a name for himself at Tottenham yet, but Spurs cannot forget just what a difference maker they have amid all the pre-season excitement.
