Omar Marmoush among nine Tottenham players who have a point to prove during the international break

Tottenham Hotspur look set to lose nine first-team stars as the international break begins.

The start to the campaign have been a total nightmare in North London.

Roberto De Zerbi is yet to oversee a single victory, while goals have been massively difficult to comeby.

There was a desperate need to secure victory against Aston Villa before three weeks away from action.

That didn't happen as the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium witnessed a 3-2 defeat.

Tottenham now have plenty of time to stew over what's gone wrong, but will be without multiple senior internationals.

Who has been called up for international break at Tottenham?

There has been little to no reason for positivity in N17 this season.

No player has truly managed to cover themselves in glory at any point.

With just two points and two goals scored, there is a need for a reset.

Even with that shocking record, that hasn't stopped many names receiving international call-ups for this break.

That will see both Jan Paul van Hecke and Micky van de Ven link up with the Netherlands, while Antonin Kinsky will feature for Czechia and Andy Robertson remains in the Scotland squad.

Ben Davies is off to Wales, Lucas Bergvall and Sandro Tonali have been called up by Sweden and Italy respectively, with Mohammed Kudus getting a spot in the Ghana squad.

Omar Marmoush is also jetting off to play a part with Egypt as he looks to finally show some quality in front of goal.

Why Omar Marmoush has a point to prove

The 27-year-old signing from Manchester City was supposed to be a true difference maker in North London.

He is yet to score or assist in his opening four starts for the Lilywhites, while causing some frustration among supporters.

It isn't as if Marmoush's performances have been too much to write home about.

The Egyptian is creating just 0.10 expected goals per 90 despite his average of 1.85 shots per game.

He has also managed an expected assist tally of 0.04, which is pretty pitiful to say the least.

Marmoush's most recent performance against Aston Villa featured a shot and cross accuracy of zero per cent respectively.

He was dispossessed four times and lost out on seven duels from 12 attempts.

The forward simply has to do better and has a chance to build some confidence on the international stage.

De Zerbi will be keeping a close eye as he prepares to face Angola and South Sudan in Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The question is whether Marmoush can finally hit some form and prove why everyone was so excited by his signature on Hotspur Way.
