Manor Solomon gives Roberto De Zerbi every reason to help him revive Tottenham career

Manor Solomon has never got going at Tottenham Hotspur after his 2023 summer move, but that could now change.

Just months after joining, the winger picked up a serious meniscus injury in October 2023 that kept him out for the rest of that campaign.

Upon his return, it was decided that the now 27-year-old was better off heading out on loan.

And that is how his Spurs career has ended up panning out with loan move after loan move, with Solomon more or less becoming a forgotten player in the squad.

But, with Roberto De Zerbi at the helm, the former Shakthar Donetsk man could be eyeing a chance to finally impress in N17.

Early signs during pre-season are giving the Italian every reason to afford him that opportunity.

How Manor Solomon is taking his Tottenham chance

With Mohammed Kudus still not yet fit to return to action, it has handed Solomon an opportunity.

Tottenham Hotspur News have relayed information surrounding the return of Kudus following his injury.

But with the Ghanaian's absence, Solomon is the only senior right-sided attacker currently on the tour of New Zealand and Australia.

That leaves De Zerbi with a very easy decision to make when selecting his starting lineups in pre-season.

Solomon, of course, started in Tottenham's 2-0 win against Auckland and he was perhaps the most influential player on the pitch on Sunday.

According to FotMob, the 27-year-old created the most chances (six) in the game. He had the most touches in the opposition box (nine) and also completed more dribbles (four) than anyone else.

Defensively he was solid too; he made six recoveries and won 56 per cent of all his duels in the New Zealand capital.

Before coming to Tottenham, De Zerbi was already well aware of the type of player that Solomon was.

The Italian managed the winger during the 2021-2022 season when they were both at Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk.

That previous history could help Solomon's chances to be reintegrated back into the set up in Hotspur Way.

If there is any chance of that happening, Solomon will have to follow up his display against Auckland with another of a similar level.

Spurs' next pre-season friendly arrives on 29 July against Sydney FC, and after playing 79 minutes, Solomon may be rested from the first minute.

Nonetheless, based on the lack of right winger options, it is probable he gets a chance off the bench.
