Gabby Agbonlahor has set Aston Villa up for Tottenham karma as 'rejects' claim made

Gabby Agbonlahor has blasted Tottenham Hotspur over some of their attacking signings this summer.

Spurs brought in 10 new signings during the summer transfer window, with a late flurry focusing on forward areas.

Despite being backed heavily in the window, Roberto De Zerbi hasn't yet found a winning formula for his Lilywhites team.

With no wins from their first three Premier League games, questions are being asked over how much this Spurs side has actually been improved.

The late signings of Mykhailo Mudryk and Omar Marmoush in particular have received significant criticism from fans and pundits alike.

Agbonlahor isn't a fan of this business from Tottenham either, and hasn't held back in his assessment of it.

What has Gabby Agbonlahor said about Tottenham's signings?

On the likes of Mudryk, Marmoush and Savio, Tottenham have indeed taken some sizeable transfer gambles.

All three, to varying degrees, have things to prove at Premier League level in N17.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Monday, Agbonlahor has ripped into a number of Tottenham's attacking signings.

However, the ex-Aston Villa striker and Villains fan may have doomed Unai Emery's side to footballing karma when the two sides meet on 19 September.

"Savio, 31 appearances in the Premier League and Champions League last season, one goal and two assists," he said.

"(Omar) Marmoush, three goals in 29 appearances in the Premier League and Champions League last season.

"Don't get me started on (Mathys) Tel after that free-kick. They haven't got the quality.

"It's alright spending this big money on Manchester City rejects who aren't goalscorers, what do you expect? Solanke has to start the next game."

So, is what Agbonlahor says fair, or does Marmoush, Savio and Tel's underlying numbers suggest they're primed to prove him wrong?

How did Savio, Marmoush and Tel rank amongst Premier League rivals this term?

Starting with Tel, he's so far made three Premier League appearances this season without a goal contribution.

However, as per FotMob, he ranks in the top three per cent of all Premier League left wingers for his 3.88 successful dribbles per 90 minutes.

Meanwhile, the 21-year-old also ranks in the leading 7.5 per cent for his 8.15 touches in the opposition box per game.

Savio, meanwhile, leads Premier League right wingers in 2026-27 per game for his 7.38 successful dribbles.

The Brazilian also places in the top three per cent for his 8.85 duels won and 8.85 touches in the opposition box per game.

Savio is also in the top 4.5 per cent of his positional rivals this term for his 1.48 big chances created per 90.

Finally, no Premier League striker has a higher pass success rate (96.8 per cent) or has completed more dribbles (3.62) per game than Marmoush this season.

The Egyptian is in the top 7.7 percentile for his 4.66 line-breaking passes per 90 as well.

So, the goals may not have arrived for them yet, but all three are posting numbers that show plenty of good work is being done elsewhere.
