Forgotten Tottenham man Ben Davies stuns Welsh media after what he did vs Erling Haaland and Norway
It's easy to forget that Tottenham Hotspur still employs Ben Davies.
The centre-back has been with Spurs for over a decade, racking up 366 appearances for the Lilywhites in that time.
Though he is widely regarded as somewhat of a hero in N17, given what he's seen the club go through, he is rarely seen by fans anymore.
Davies made just five appearances for Spurs last term, and has played once competitive game this season, which he scored in.
Roberto De Zerbi has several top-class defenders to choose from, so the Wales international is always going to find it hard to get game time this season.
However, Tottenham fans will grin after hearing how highly the Welsh media thought of Davies' display against Norway.
Welsh media stunned after Ben Davies pockets Erling Haaland
Wales beat Norway 2-1 in the Nations League on Thursday, despite being 1-0 down after 11 minutes.
It was Davies' 103rd appearance for his nation, and he made the game on to remembe
The veteran defender earned a 7.1 FotMob rating after playing the full 90 minutes.
He had a 91 per cent passing accuracy, completing three long balls successfully.
He made one tackle, four headed clearances and three recoveries, winning 100 per cent of his duels on the ground.
Davies also won 67 per cent of his aerial duels up against the likes of Erling Haaland, who the Welsh media appear to believe was pocketed by the Tottenham man throughout.
Wales Online gave him a 9/10 rating, handing him their deserved Player of the Match choice, writing: "As above in many ways. Kept Norway quiet all evening, including Haaland, who simply couldn't quite get the better of him.
"A colossal performance."
Y Clwb Pel-droed gave him a 6/10, claiming he gave away some "sloppy" passes, though he only misplaced six out of an attempted 66, but praised him for "dangerous" crosses.
However, it wasn't just the media who were praising Davies.
Which former Premier League player called Davies 'different class'?
Davies signed a new deal with Tottenham earlier this year, extending his stay in N17 for one more year.
Though he knows his impact for Spurs will be limited this season, he will be hoping to go far in the Nations League with Wales.
Former Premier League and Burnley striker Sam Vokes was commentating on the game for BBC Radio Wales, and was hugely impressed by the Tottenham defender.
Vokes said: "Haaland is storming off the pitch and you don't often see that. He'll be frustrated tonight, we didn't give him a yard.
"The two Bens (Davies and Cabango) were rocks at centre half tonight, different class."
It's fair to say he's still a sure starter for Wales, but will he get more minutes under De Zerbi after the break?
