Danny Murphy reacts to Omar Marmoush 'problem' at Tottenham, it was clear vs Nottingham Forest

Omar Marmoush has been central to conversation after Tottenham Hotspur drew at Nottingham Forest.

Roberto De Zerbi's men travelled to the City Ground on Saturday and took home their share of the points.

It was the first to add to their tally of the season as neither side were able to get on the scoresheet in a 0-0 draw.

Things could have been so different, especially as Neco Williams' second-half goal was ruled out for a dubious handball decision.

Spurs weren't complaining as it got them off the hook after a hard-fought encounter in the East Midlands.

Marmoush could have been the difference maker against Forest as Danny Murphy picked up on what went wrong.

There was certainly a level of excitement when the Egypt international came in through the doors.

He scored 16 in one and a half seasons with Manchester City off the back of a 33 goal involvement year in Germany.

De Zerbi has brought him in and has trusted him to be the go-to striker at this point of the campaign.

The 27-year-old is yet to find the net for the N17 outfit as his struggles continued against Forest.

He should have scored in the first-half when he went through on goal and had a second half effort that left a lot to be desired.

The 1999-born forward had Andy Robertson and Mohammed Kudus available, but went alone and blazed a strike well-wide.

That caused plenty of concern in the away end, although Murphy doesn't see his struggles continuing with Spurs.

Speaking via Match of the Day on Saturday, he said: "I don't think it's a problem long term, I think Marmoush is quality, but I think he's so desperate to get on the scoresheet and get going that he ignores Kudus.

"He sees him, he'll know Robertson on his shoulder, he's a top player, but his desperation to get his team the winner, it's the wrong decision at the wrong time. He missed a great chance in the first half as well."

The summer signing wasted chances at the City Ground and was eventually taken off with six minutes to spare.

In an 84-minute outing, he took two shots and neither caused a problem for Matz Sels

That saw him clock up an expected goals tally of just 0.17, which has to change for the better.

There were some plus points to his performance as he completed 92 per cent of his attempted passes while also succeeding in three of his four dribbles.

Murphy clearly isn't concerned with what he saw and is right to an extent, but missing such clear chances will cause problems if it isn't fixed quickly.
