Cristian Romero's biggest weaknesses and how Harry Kane can exploit them in England vs Argentina
Cristian Romero will have most Tottenham Hotspur fans hoping he has a bad game when England face Argentina later this week in the World Cup.
The Three Lions passed the test of Erling Haaland'sNorway side on Saturday, beating them 2-1 after Jude Bellingham scored his second in extra time.
Thomas Tuchel made some big decisions in the game, including the decision to bring Djed Spence off the bench, but the Spurs man had yet another strong performance.
England will now face Argentina in the semi-final of the tournament, and Spurs fans will be hoping Harry Kane can do the damage to Romero's Argentina side.
The centre-back had an interesting season with the Lilywhites, to say the least, and after recent controversy at club level, Tottenham fans will want to see him have a poor game in order for England to advance to the final.
That may be the case, especially if Kane can target Romero's biggest weaknesses.
Cristian Romero's biggest weaknesses that Harry Kane can target
Tottenham fans will be regretting their club letting Kane leave even more after his stellar last 12 months for club and country.
The England skipper scored an average of 1.36 goals for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga last season, netting 36 times in just 31 games.
The 32-year-old already has six goals to his name in as many games for England at this year's World Cup, boasting an impressive average FotMob rating of 7.69.
Now, the former Tottenham man can do all the English Spurs fans a favour by targeting Romero's key weaknesses on Wednesday.
The Argentine is well known for his short temper on the field, and that's been no different at the World Cup, as he averages 1.40 fouls per 90. The only surprise is that he has yet to be booked.
Kane could try to rile Romero up during the match, but also target the defender's low average of blocks per 90 at the tournament, which stands at 0.40.
Romero's long ball accuracy ranks as very average among other players in his position at the tournament at 44.4 per cent, and if Kane can get his press spot on to force the defender into going direct, he could help England win possession back easily.
Kane gets 3.52 shots off per 90 minutes on average, and also wins 1.28 fouls, which sets him up for a good game against Romero.
Romero has horrid record against one other England player
Romero was central to Tottenham's on and off the field issues last season, despite his clear top-class ability.
Things have become sour between him and the Spurs fans, with plenty of them wanting to see the defender leave
But there will also be plenty of Tottenham supporters who will, unfortunately or fortunately, know about someone else Romero may fear playing.
He's called Eberechi Eze.
The England international bagged five goals against the Lilywhites last season, only scoring two other goals against opponents in the Premier League.
Tuchel brought Eze off the bench against Norway and could do the same in the semi-final against Romero and Argentina.
