Andy Robertson played a starring role for Scotland in their first win at the World Cup, leaving Roberto De Zerbi with a clear decision to make for Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs simply have to get recruitment right this summer if they are to avoid another relegation battle, and with the signing of Robertson, they are already off to a good start.

The Scotland international made the move to North London on a free transfer after his contract with Liverpool expired.

Robertson will have to contend with Djed Spence and Destiny Udogie for a starting role under De Zerbi, albeit with the former far better when utilised on the right.

Nevertheless, the former Liverpool star will certainly have made the move to Spurs with a starting role in mind.

And after his performance against Haiti, he has done his chances of that no harm.

How did Andy Robertson fare for Scotland vs Haiti?

John McGinn was the match winner for Scotland, though it was Robertson who arguably played the biggest role for his country

The veteran full-back offered plenty of quality at both ends of the pitch, as showcased by his stats from the game

Robertson created two chances for Scotland from left-back, while also completing 15 passes into the final third.

He found a teammate with two of his five crosses in the game, while also completing four long balls.

Defensively he was just as sound, with the 32-year-old having won 50 per cent of his ground duels, with a total of five defensive contributions.

Robertson showcased his willingness to get up and down the left flank, which is exactly what De Zerbi will be hoping to see from him in the Premier League.

What does Robertson's arrival mean for Destiny Udogie?

Udogie can be an excellent player on his day, but a lack of consistency and a concerning injury record have hampered his progress.

With that said, he is not the only one to have struggled to impress in recent campaigns.

Robertson is almost certain to be the starting left-back at Tottenham next season, and with plenty of previous interest in Udogie, it remains to be seen whether he will be content with his role as a squad player.

With no European football, his chances to impress may well be limited, unless Robertson were to suffer an injury, though his record at Liverpool makes that seem unlikely.
