Tottenham Hotspur could be set to welcome Dejan Kulusevski back to their matchday squad against Coventry City.

The Sweden international has been absent through injury since May 2025.

It has been well over 520 days since the attacker last featured for the Lilywhites.

He picked up what was described as a "knock" against Crystal Palace, but has been sidelined for well over a year.

Things haven't been helped by surgery in March that has halted any idea of a return.

That is until now as Roberto De Zerbi delivered the news every Tottenham fan has been waiting for.

It has obviously been a long time coming, but the 26-year-old finally looks set to make his comeback.

Spurs fans have been crying out for his return after the horrorshow that was last season.

That has only stepped up after a dreadful start to the current campaign, with the Lilywhites yet to win a single Premier League game.

Coventry City are next up and it looks as if Kulusevski is ready to take up a place in the matchday squad.

That has been revealed by De Zerbi in his pre-match press conference on Sunday.

He said: "Yes [he will be on the bench], the medical staff have given the ok. It's probably the greatest news since the Everton game. He has suffered too much. I told him yesterday and he had a big smile on his face."

It is the news that everyone in N17 wanted to hear, but what will he bring to this Tottenham side.

'This is the absolute worry I have about Dejan Kulusevski after insane injury'

What can Tottenham expect from Kulusevski in 2026?

Having not played a single game since the 2024/25 season, it will certainly take time for the attacker to adapt.

There's no guessing at a date when he could look like being his old self.

If he can reach that point, there is so much to be excited about.

The Swede featured across 2391 Premier League minutes in his last campaign before his injury

In that time, he scored seven goals and put up four assists.

That is a positive tally and is only made better by creating 2.45 chances, completing 1.43 dribbles and winning 4.93 duels per 90 that year.

His goal involvements tally would have been second most in the squad last season as only Richarlison put up more with 15.

That is the sort of difference-maker De Zerbi needs right now, and that is exactly why this is certainly the "greatest news".
