Roberto De Zerbi may now have to deal with Pedro Porro being out injured for Tottenham Hotspur.

The Spurs head coach is facing external pressure after a poor start to the season.

The Lilywhites go into the international break rock bottom of the Premier League on two points, having scored as many goals.

De Zerbi's win percentage at the club is now down to 29 per cent, with a poor points-per-game average of 1.1.

He is still having to juggle the fitness of several first-team players, including the likes of James Maddison and Dominic Solanke, with Dejan Kulusevski yet to return.

But De Zerbi may have an even bigger issue after Porro's injury scare in the 3-2 loss to Aston Villa on Saturday.

Pedro Porro sends new injury message after Aston Villa

Porro came off in the 19th minute of the game against Villa with a supposed hamstring injury.

De Zerbi hopes that it will not be a big issue, but isn't sure yet, as the player has been withdrawn from Spain's upcoming international camp.

The right-back sent a new Tottenham message on Sunday, and his wording suggests that this is not just a small hamstring issue.

Porro wrote: "Sometimes you have to stop, take a breath and start again. Now it’s time to recover and trust the process.

"I’ll come back stronger, hungrier and more motivated than ever. This is just another obstacle on the road. See you soon."

Porro played 47 games for Spurs last season, racking up seven goals and assists combined in all competitions.

He had an average FotMob score of 7.2 for the Lilywhites last term, while his World Cup record stood at 8.0.

The Spain international made an average of 7.04 defensive contributions in the Premier League last season and made 2.44 tackles per 90 minutes.

It's an understatement to say that this will be a loss for De Zerbi.

Sandro Tonali, Pedro Porro and others: Who could be Tottenham's player of the season for 2026-27?

How long will Porro be out for?

While we have no update on Porro's specific hamstring injury, we can look at how long he could be out for.

A grade one hamstring issue is a mild strain and a small amount of muscle damage, which would see the defender fit to return to club football after the break.

But given his message, he could be out for longer than that.

A grade two hamstring injury is a partial tear and more significant disruption that can leave a player out for three to five weeks.

Finally, a grade three injury is a severe tear or complete rupture, which could leave Porro out for a minimum of two months, with the possibility of being out for over three months.

Surgery is usually required for this type of injury.

Porro's message would suggest that he has potentially suffered a grade two hamstring issue, but he could also have damage that falls between a grade three issue.

Let's hope for the best.
