Why Tottenham set to lose 'millions' as sponsors utilise exit clause agreement
Tottenham Hotspur simply can't seem to catch a break at the moment.
Roberto De Zerbi's side are bottom of the Premier League at the international break, with no wins from their first five games.
Spurs owners, ENIC, pumped in vast swathes of cash to fund a major transfer rebuild this summer.
Big-money deals were completed for the likes of Sandro Tonali, Savio and Mateus Fernandes, as the Lilywhites try to avoid another relegation battle.
Part of the ability to fund such a window was through the eight new sponsorship agreements they'd made for the 2026-27 season.
One of those was with South Korean furniture company, but no longer.
How have Sidiz been able to end Tottenham sponsorship deal early?
It was in October 2024 that Tottenham announced they'd entered into a sponsorship agreement with Sidiz.
But as revealed in a report from The Telegraph on Tuesday, that partnership has now come to a premature end.
It's reported that Sidiz have triggered a clause in the contract they signed with Spurs allowing them to exit the agreement early.
As a result, their partnership with Tottenham will officially cease to exist at the end of this October.
The report states that it was understood the contract ran until 2028, and that it was worth "millions of pounds."
It's claimed in the report that Sidiz were seen as a 'low-tier' sponsor compared to some of Tottenham's other main partners.
But what will Tottenham, and in particular De Zerbi, physically lose from this sponsorship collapse?
Why De Zerbi won't be as comfortable at Tottenham any longer
De Zerbi just can't seem to catch a break as Tottenham boss at the moment.
That's not to see he's absolved of any blame for Spurs' shocking start to the season, but many of his players certainly aren't helping him out either.
Already under significant pressure as it is, the Italian will now both be metaphorically and physically sitting less comfy around the place.
That's because Sidiz provide the fancy seating at Tottenham's training ground and in the press room at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
As a result, De Zerbi will soon lose access to these, and it remains to be seen how much effort Spurs chiefs make to replace them.
From the end of October, it's stated by The Telegraph that all Sidiz branding will be removed, and that includes those in which De Zerbi has spoke to the press from.
It's a relatively small thing in the grand scheme of things, but it's perhaps another little sign from the footballing gods that De Zerbi and Tottenham are under a curse.
