Cristian Romero ‘cannot be allowed to leave Tottenham’ after latest development
Cristian Romero’s future at Tottenham remains up in the air despite the North London club reaching the UEFA Europa League final.
Ange Postecoglou has brought Tottenham to within touching distance of a first major trophy in 17 years.
However, the Australian has also overseen a historically poor Premier League season, which has cast doubt over his long-term future at Tottenham.
In addition, the futures of several players are also uncertain, none more so than Romero, who remains a divisive figure in North London.

Romero’s influence on Tottenham remains unrivalled
Tottenham have signed three centre-backs since Postecoglou’s arrival: Radu Drăgușin, Micky Van de Ven and Kevin Danso, as well as Archie Gray, who has proven himself to be very competent in this role.
Although van de Ven has instantly integrated himself into the starting lineup, Romero has kept his place as one of the first names on the teamsheet ahead of Drăgușin and Danso, despite his injury record.

The 27-year-old’s vision and passing range allow him to play out of the back in a way that very few centre-backs in world football can.
This is matched with a unique desire to defend on the front foot, which makes the Argentine a horrible defender to play against, although it can sometimes spill over to the detriment of the team.
Romero’s performance in Spurs’ biggest game of the season, the 2-0 win against Bodø/Glimt at the Aspmyra Stadion on Thursday (8 May), perfectly portrayed all of his best attributes.
He won three ground duels, made five clearances, and completed as many ball recoveries whilst boasting a 96.3 per cent pass accuracy and contributing with an assist [Sofascore].
This has resulted in Spurs supporters all over social media hailing the centre-back, with some imploring the Lilywhites to quash any approaches for Romero and secure his long-term services.
Spurs will face tough decision on Romero
Levy’s capacity to spend in the summer will likely hinge on whether Tottenham manage to overcome Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League final on Wednesday, 21 May.
Should they fail, Romero may seek pastures new in a bid to match his international success at club level.
It will also likely mean that the North London club will have to sell to buy, leaving them more vulnerable to substantial bids for their hotly-sought World Cup winner.
With links of a big-money move to Spain gathering pace since the turn of the year, Levy would be tempted to cash in as the central defender enters the final two years of his contract, leaving him with a tough decision on his hands.
