View: Tottenham under threat of losing Harry Kane 2.0 as battle underway to keep Mikey Moore

It promises to be a huge summer for Tottenham Hotspur with not only a new manager in need of being hired but also because it could be the summer Harry Kane leaves.

Kane’s career-long wait for major silverware will continue into his 30s when he celebrates his birthday in July after practically dragging Spurs into the lowly eight-place they find themselves currently in the Premier League.

If Kane, 29, stays in North London for another season he would not only be in the final year of his contract but he could also face the prospect of not playing any European football next season.

Away from the headline-grabbing stories of Kane, Daniel Levy, Arne Slot and all the other countless managers Tottenham aren’t hiring, there’s also a bit of a story developing at youth level.

Mikey Moore has been in superb form for Spurs’ youth sides this season with the 15-year-old striker even earning himself a spot in Ryan Mason’s first-team training last April.

The Sun reported on 4 March that Moore has been described by a club source as being “absolutely ridiculous” with him making waves in both North London and with the England youth set-up.

However, Chelsea are reportedly hot on the heels of the young striker, whose current contract expires.

Writing in the print edition of The Mirror on Friday (26 May, page 70), John Cross reported that Moore is “regarded as a huge prospect with genuine first-team potential” at Spurs.

It’s no wonder there’s a clamour for his signature, in that case.

Away from his impressive form in Tottenham’s youth teams, Moore has also drawn parallels with Kane because he initially started his career at Arsenal before crossing the North London divide.

And like Kane, Moore could leave Spurs this summer unless his contract situation is sorted out.

It’ll be a bit easier to get Moore to commit than one of the world’s best strikers.

There seems to be a pathway to the first team in place for the England Under-16s centre-forward, who’s played twice in Premier League 2 for Spurs’ Under-21s this season.

While Mason isn’t going to be in charge next season – hopefully – there’s no doubt that Moore’s potential will be reported to whoever does take the managerial job on a full-time basis.

That is, however, dependent upon whether Moore is still a Tottenham player.
