View: Tottenham can utilise South Korean links to win transfer race for ‘Little Son’ Seong-jin Kang

Ange Postecoglou’s arrival could see Tottenham secure the signing of Seong-jin Kang, according to the Sunday Mirror.

The newspaper reported on 11 June via their print edition (page 70) that Kang is known as “Little Son” as he plays alongside Spurs star Heung-min Son for South Korea.

Postecoglou could deliver another blow to his old club Celtic just one week after he made the switch from the Scottish giants to the Premier League and Tottenham.

Both clubs are reportedly interested in young winger Kang. The 20-year-old has made two appearances for South Korea and scored as many goals.

The FC Seoul star was on the radar of Celtic and Tottenham but Postecoglou’s arrival as well as the player’s connection with Son could see Spurs gain the edge in the race for his signature.

The report states that he is “one of the world’s most exciting young players” as well as the fact that “he studies videos of role model Mo Salah before games,” which clearly shows the player’s excellent dedication and commitment.

The South Korean made his full international debut at just 19 years of age and was part of the Under-20’s World Cup most recently, on the bench as his side lost the semi-finals 2-1 to Italy.

Tottenham’s loyal South Korean following thanks to Son could mean that this move has some legs, and it would make commercial sense for Tottenham to continue that relationship with the South Korean market.

The experience, although limited thus far, Son and Kang have of each other could help him to settle into the squad and with the player still just 20, it could make sense for him to link up with the youth team and continue his development toward the first team if he was to arrive at Tottenham.

In other Tottenham news, there are plenty of other youth players at Tottenham who could be offered a route to the first team.
