View: Oliver Skipp’s England Under-21 call-up testament to Tottenham Academy
As reported by BBC Sport, the England Under-21 squad for the upcoming European championships has been announced, and Tottenham midfielder Oliver Skipp has been included.
Skipp’s inclusion in the upcoming championships is a reminder of just how far the academy graduate has come at such a young age.
The midfielder is now a consistent member of Tottenham’s first-team squad at the age of 22 after making his first-team debut at the age of just 18 in October 2018 during a 3-1 win in the League Cup away at London rivals West Ham.

It is easy to forget just how young Skipp is, but his inclusion in the squad will serve as a reminder with the midfielder featuring alongside the likes of Anthony Gordon, Cole Palmer, Curtis Jones and Jacob Ramsey – all relatively fresh faces in and around the Premier League scene.
Skipp often shows maturity beyond his years and has been in-and-around the first team since he was just 17 years old. The player’s success is a real testament to the club’s academy after he first joined Tottenham all the way back in 2005 at the age of just five.

However, in recent seasons, Spurs’ academy has failed to produce this same level of first-team talent, with Harry Kane and Skipp being the most recent success stories, and the club’s supporters will be keen to see some more academy graduates making an impact on the first-team in the near future under Ange Postecoglou.
What is certain is that Skipp is proof to many of Spurs’ academy stars that the opportunities are available if you grasp them.
In other Tottenham News, one academy star is looking to follow a similar trajectory to Skipp.
