View: Ange Postecoglou could have new plans for Tottenham youngster Harvey White
Harvey White spent the second half of last season on loan from Tottenham with Derby County in League One.
It was a loan spell that did not produce the results that many, including White himself, would have been hoping for. The midfielder started just five matches and didn’t do a lot to make much of an impression.
However, despite the disappointment of his loan, as per the Derby Telegraph (5 June), a new contract offer is still on the table from Tottenham with 21-year-old currently weighing up his options.

The difficulty for White is that there are a number of midfielders ahead of him in the pecking order at Spurs and first-team minutes might be tricky to come by if he does commit his future to the club. With his 22nd birthday fast approaching the player will need to make serious considerations over where his future lies.
Although, if pre-season is anything to go by, it appears as if new Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou doesn’t believe that midfield is the only viable position for the academy graduate.
In footage recorded and uploaded to Twitter (17 July) by Football London’s Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold, who is out in Australia observing the club’s preparations, it appears as if White has been operating at left-back during training.
This is a position that White has played in sparingly during his career so far, featuring 11 times there in the past, however, his primary position is defensive midfield (Transfermrkt).
But, with a new manager in place, that could very much change and the Australian boss might believe that left-back is where White’s talents lie.
Although with Destiny Udogie, Ivan Perisic, Ben Davies and Sergio Reguilon all now at the club, this position could be considered even more congested than midfield and White might see the possibility of landing a starting spot in the back four even more unlikely than midfield.
Of course, it is also very possible that these players training together in the footage were simply grouped up as they are not in the manager’s immediate plans, which would also be cause for concern for White.
Whatever the case, the youngster clearly has a decision on his hands over where his future lies, both positionally and geographically.
