Tottenham Under-18 ace Yusuf Akhamrich can learn from Destiny Udogie as he turns professional

Tottenham Under-18 ace Yusuf Akhamrich can draw inspiration from left-back Destiny Udogie as he continues to progress at Hotspur Way.

It has been something of a breakthrough season for several Under-18 Spurs stars, including Akhamrich.

Having started just nine Under-18 Premier League South matches across the entirety of the 2022/23 season, scoring once and providing an assist, Akhamrich has already started 10 times in the league this season.

While he featured predominantly as a winger last term, he has showcased his versatility this time around, playing once as an attacking midfielder and three times as a left-back, as well as out wide.

His season has been far more productive to date, scoring five times and providing one assist in the league while also netting during Spurs’ FA Youth Cup run, which recently came to an abrupt halt as the North London side were beaten 2-1 by Manchester City Under-18s at the quarter-final stage (24 February).

As a result of his bright form, Akhamrich recently earned his first international call-up and went away to represent Morocco Under-20s.

Akhamrich appears to be finding his feet at Hotspur Way having recently celebrated his 18th birthday, and he has been rewarded for his hard work.

As per Tottenham Hotspur’s Official Website (1 March), the youngster has signed his first professional contract in North London, and he will hope it is the first of many.

Yusuf Akhamrich can draw inspiration from Tottenham star Destiny Udogie

Udogie has been a revelation for Spurs during his debut season at the club under Ange Postecoglou.

A big part of his success has been his ability to invert from left-back, something which Postecoglou requires from both of his full-backs.

Udogie’s quality in the final third has helped him to adapt to his manager’s demands, and Akhamrich can take inspiration from the success of his Itallian counterpart.

Having operated predominantly as a winger throughout his short career so far, Akhamrich certainly has quality going forward.

However, the versatile youngster has also demonstrated his ability to play at left-back this season, and if he could combine the two skillsets, he could become the perfect understudy for Udogie in the years to come at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Now that he has turned professional, Akhamrich will be thinking about the next steps he needs to take to break into Postecoglou’s first team setup.

Luckily for him, based on the skillset he has already demonstrated, Udogie has provided the perfect blueprint for how a player like Akhamrich can become a success in N17.
