Tottenham: ‘Outstanding’ Luca Williams-Barnett ready to explode after what he did on Saturday

Ange Postecoglou could have a star in the making with 15-year-old Luca Williams-Barnett grabbing himself a goal on his debut for Tottenham’s Under-18s.

Spurs have plenty of young talent at Hotspur Way, with the likes of Will Lankshear and Jamie Donley announcing themselves to Postecoglou this season.

And while Williams-Barnett is still a few years younger than Spurs’ in-form Under-21 duo, he has wasted no time in sending his own message to Postecoglou and the Tottenham supporters.

After his brilliant performances for Spurs’ Under-16s this season, which has put the forward on England’s radar, Williams-Barnett was handed his first Under-18s appearance on Saturday (6 April) as Stuart Lewis’ side thrashed Reading’s Under-18s 6-1 away from home.

Luca Williams-Barnett is one for Ange Postecoglou to keep an eye on at Tottenham

With Williams-Barnett set to turn 16 later this month, Postecoglou will be keeping his eye on the youngster.

Named in the starting lineup for his Under-18s debut, the Tottenham teen wasted little time demonstarting his potential as he doubled his side’s lead midway through the first half after Mikey Moore had marked his comeback from injury with a goal after just four minutes.

And speaking after the match, Lewis was delighted with the debutant’s performance, saying (via Tottenham Hotspur Official Website, 6 April), “Luca on debut was outstanding, especially some of his final third work and Ellis (Lehane) off the bench scored two good goals – his last was an outstanding individual goal.”

Lehane also impressed with his brace, while Yusuf Akhamrich and Miracle Adewole grabbed Spurs’ other two, in a result which emphasised the amount of talent Postecoglou has available to him at Hotspur Way.

Williams-Barnett is the latest young star to burst onto the scene, and while any first-team involvement is probably still a couple of years away, Tottenham supporters should begin to make themselves familiar with the name.

In other Tottenham news, Postecoglou can no longer ignore one Under-21 Spurs ace after what he did on Saturday.
