Tottenham must monitor Luca Williams-Barnett after what Under-18 sensation did on Sunday

Ange Postecoglou has a brand-new teen sensation on his radar after what Tottenham Under-18 forward Luca Williams-Barnett did on Sunday (1 September).

Spurs’ Under-18s have made a largely positive start to the season. They began the campaign with back-to-back victories in the Under-18 Premier League.

Stuart Lewis’ side recorded a 6-4 win over Crystal Palace’s Under-18s (17 August) before thrashing Fulham’s Under-18s 5-1 (24 August).

However, the Spurs youngsters have come slightly undone over the past week. They were beaten 3-1 by Leeds United’s Under-18s in the Under-18 Premier League Cup on Tuesday (27 August).

And they were once again left frustrated after drawing 2-2 with Brighton’s Under-18s on Sunday (1 September).

However, despite a dip in form, one player who has continued shining is forward Williams-Barnett.

Nehemiah Oriola’s cracking strike for the Seagulls was cancelled out when Herbie James levelled proceedings for the hosts.

And Williams-Barnett looked to have won it for his side when he netted his fourth league goal in three games with eight minutes left to play.

However, an 86th-minute Brighton equaliser courtesy of Shane Nti prevented Tottenham from claiming maximum points.

Williams-Barnett almost played hero for Spurs once again, but his last-gasp free-kick was off the crossbar.

Nonetheless, despite the result, this was still another positive outing for Williams-Barnett, who now has four goals and two assists in three Under-18 Premier League games this season.

With Mikey Moore featuring for the Under-21s now, Williams-Barnett appears to be the new star at Under-18 level, and if he continues to play as he is, it might not be long until Postecoglou is taking a closer look at the 16-year-old.

In other Tottenham news, the club are set to receive £10million-plus for one player after a Fabrizio Romano update.
