Tottenham left-back ruled out for another four months in Hotspur Way injury update

Tottenham had a nightmare injury record last season as they were left short in defence numerous times.

Spurs’ 2024/25 campaign was marred by a well-documented injury crisis, which former boss Ange Postecoglou often cited as a factor that cost the Whites in the league last season.

This summer, under new manager Thomas Frank, Daniel Levy must add depth to the squad, given the busy schedule ahead.

Frank’s side have now been hit with a fresh injury concern.

Maeson King still four months away from Tottenham return

The emergence of some of Tottenham’s youth players was one of the few positives for Tottenham last season.

Spurs were forced to rely on youngsters and fringe players after a number of costly injuries.

Now, according to Lilywhite Rose on X (9 July), Tottenham under-21’s left-back Maeson King is still three or four months away from a full recovery from injury.

The youngster has reportedly made good progress, but still has a long way to go towards getting back to full fitness.

The 19-year-old underwent surgery when the U21’s season concluded back in May.

King had posted a picture of himself in a hospital bed, alongside the caption: “Surgery went well, road to recovery”.

Having reportedly been close to his Tottenham debut last season, the injury is a huge hit to King’s season.

The left-back would no doubt have had an opportunity to impress Frank in preseason with the first team if it weren’t for his injury.

Tottenham’s injury record is a huge worry

Last season, Tottenham’s injury record had a worrying effect on their senior team, and now their problems seem to be spreading to their youth team.

Youngsters Mikey Moore and Dane Scarlett have also recently been affected by these issues.

Whether this is an issue caused by Tottenham’s training plan remains to be seen, but it must be sorted out soon.

Spurs face a more intense schedule next season with the factor of the Champions League to contend with and can’t afford to lose players.

Frank’s side now has the advantage of being able to add more depth to their side this summer to make sure that the problems of last season don’t repeat themselves.
