Tottenham goalkeeper to ‘push for exit’ after international announcement

Tottenham have some big issues on their mind ahead of the end of the season.

The Europa League final against Manchester United is edging closer, with a victory guaranteeing Champions League football next season, proving to be a saving grace this term.

There also continues to be speculation surrounding the future of Ange Postecoglou at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with a trophy no longer guaranteed to be enough to save him.

Nevertheless, plenty of change is needed in north London during the summer and one goalkeeper could be pushing for a move away.

Josh Keeley receives senior international call-up

While the first team may be enduring a torrid time of things this season, one Spurs man who is having a great campaign is Josh Keeley.

The goalkeeper has spent the season on loan with Leyton Orient, being the number one choice between the sticks.

Keeley is now competing in the League One play-offs against Stockport, with the tie level at 2-2 before the second leg on Wednesday (14 May).

The 21-year-old has been eye-catching at Tottenham and beyond for some time now, and his consistent performances have earned him a call-up to the senior Republic of Ireland squad for the first time.

Keeley has previously played in the youth squads, seemingly impressing in his performances.

Keeley to push for a move away this summer

Last season, Keeley was playing for Barnet in the National League and is now competing in the play-offs with a side looking to go up to the Championship, highlighting his impressive development.

His call-up to the Irish senior squad at international level is deserved and will likely be the first of many.

However, as he continues to succeed away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the 21-year-old will surely be pushing for another move this summer.

It’s hard to be an up-and-coming goalkeeper at a club as big as Tottenham, especially when you take in the difficulties facing the Lilywhites this term.

But if the youngster is going to carry on his development at a rapid rate, then he has to be at a club where he can continue getting regular minutes once more next season.

Whether that move is another loan or permanent is yet to be seen, with the Championship or even the Premier League his next logical step.

Orient would no doubt be keen to get his services once more after the success of the loan spell this summer, but if they don’t go up, it will be interesting to see if Tottenham feel he is ready for the next step.
