Tottenham ‘find next Harry Kane’ after what happened v Elfsborg
Peter Crouch compared Dane Scarlett to Harry Kane after Tottenham beat Elfsborg 3-0 on Thursday.
Spurs secured automatic qualification for the Europa League round of 16 with a victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 30 January.
Scarlett replaced Radu Dragusin in the 66th minute and scored his first-ever goal for the Lilywhites just four minutes later to open the scoring before assisting Damola Ajayi.
Speaking on TNT Sports (30 January, 22:00 pm), Crouch said: “There’s a certain number nine at this football club, I remember him going on loan at Leyton Orient, Millwall, Leicester.
“Obviously, that was Harry Kane I was talking about, you know, you end up being an absolute legend at the club.
“It’s a lot to live up to, I mean that calibre of player but I thought his all-round game was fantastic, he held the ball up well, he set up the second goal.”
Tottenham find next Harry Kane?
Spurs have been crying out for attacking reinforcements since Dominic Solanke was ruled out for the foreseeable future.
Richarlison and Wilson Odobert have struggled with fitness issues and Timo Werner has underwhelmed when he has been given a chance.
Obviously, it is a long way for the 20-year-old to replicate what Kane did for the Lilywhites but as Crouch highlighted he is following a similar path having been sent on loan to Portsmouth, Ipswich Town, and Oxford United.

If he can take the momentum from his strike on Thursday and force his way into Ange Postecoglou’s plans consistently, he could eventually thrive like Kane did for Spurs.
Crouch did give the caveat that it is a lot to live up to but it was a very encouraging display from the England Under-21 international nonetheless.
The youngster could be the saviour that the former Celtic manager has been desperate for during the dismal run his side have been on.
In other Tottenham news, Bryan King believes that Harry Kane will have had an influence on Mathys Tel ahead of his potential move to Spurs.
