Tottenham contract decision justified after ‘stunning’ scenes v Arsenal
Tottenham under-18s had a huge game as they faced Arsenal in a North London derby, and what followed was quite extraordinary.
Spurs and Arsenal share a bitterly heated rivalry even extending to youth level, and there was no shortage of drama in this edition of the North London derby.
Tottenham found themselves trailing 4-3 until deep into stoppage time, but they remarkably equalised through Jamel Beggs in the 11th minute of added time.
Beggs is considered a top prospect at Tottenham, and this moment proved why he may have a bright future in North London.

Beggs justifies new Spurs contract with Arsenal equaliser
Beggs has caught the eye in the Tottenham Academy, and this high-profile youth derby showed why he is so highly rated.
The 17-year-old recently signed his first professional contract at Spurs, and he has justified the club’s faith in him with this goal.
Stat | Beggs |
Appearances | 16 |
Goals | 1 |
Assists | 2 |
It was the end of a truly remarkable game and Beggs scored a very significant goal for his under-18 side, and one which he may never forget.
Beggs has made 19 appearances for the Tottenham under-18s, scoring twice and assisting once, and this was perhaps his biggest moment for the side yet.

Spurs dent Arsenal’s title hopes in remarkable draw
The 4-4 draw was significant for several reasons, not least that it dented Arsenal under-18s’ title hopes in their division.
Arsenal had to win all their final three games to give themselves a shot at the under-18 Premier League title, and appeared to be heading that way as they went 3-1 up against Spurs.
However, Spurs managed to make it 3-3 in the 42nd minute through George Feeney and Junai Byfield, but they were again frustrated as they went into the break 4-3 down.
Tottenham then showed great fight to battle until the end and find the equaliser, and they will be extra satisfied knowing how much damage it did to Arsenal’s title hopes.
Arsenal are now second behind Aston Villa and are three points behind with two games remaining, meaning that the two points they dropped to Spurs are particularly significant in the race.
