Postecoglou must hand ‘excellent’ Tyrese Hall Tottenham chance after what he did
Ange Postecoglou can no longer ignore Tyrese Hall after what the Tottenham Under-21s midfielder did recently.
Spurs have several talented young players on their books at the moment.
Postecoglou has already handed first-team opportunities this season to the likes of Damola Ajayi and Alfie Dorrington, while teenage trio Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall and Mikey Moore have all been a prominent feature of the first-team in North London this term.
Meanwhile, plenty of the club’s young players are making a big impact on loan, with Jamie Donley and Josh Keeley excelling for Leyton Orient, while George Abbott has become a key man for Notts County.
However, one player who hasn’t been given any first-team opportunities this season is Hall, despite the 19-year-old featuring heavily in pre-season for Spurs.
As a result, the young midfielder could look to quit Tottenham if he isn’t developing as he likes. Therefore, Postecoglou needs to hand Hall an opportunity, especially after what he did last time out for Spurs’ Under-21s.
Hall grabs two assists for Tottenham Under-21s
It has been a difficult season for Spurs’ Under-21s.
After storming to the Premier League 2 title last season, plenty of the players from that team have left the club on loan, including top scorer Will Lankshear, who is playing his football with West Brom at the moment.
However, one standout player from last season who has remained with the Under-21s is Hall. It looked as though a Spurs exit was on the cards in the form of a loan move during the winter transfer window, but nothing materialised.
And Hall demonstrated once again on Friday (21 February) that he is too good for the level he is currently playing at, grabbing two assists as Wayne Burnett’s side suffered a 3-2 Premier League 2 defeat to Wolves’ Under-21s at the Lamex Stadium.
Described as “excellent” on the night [Tottenham Hotspur Official], Hall’s two assists are surely enough to prove to Postecoglou that he at least deserves some minutes off the bench in a lesser game for the first-team.

Postecoglou needs to hand Hall an opportunity at Tottenham
If Hall doesn’t see a clear path for him at Spurs, he could look to move on from the club.
Therefore, if Postecoglou wants to keep hold of a clearly talented player, he needs to show him that there will be opportunities for him in North London.
Over the coming months, the UEFA Europa League will be the priority for Spurs, with very little left to play for in the Premier League.
Team | Position | Goal Difference | Points |
Tottenham | 12th | +12 | 30 |
Crystal Palace | 13th | -3 | 30 |
Everton | 14th | -4 | 30 |
Manchester United | 15th | -7 | 29 |
West Ham | 16th | -18 | 27 |
Wolves | 17th | -19 | 19 |
As a result, there will be opportunities for young players to feature in England’s top flight, and Postecoglou needs to ensure some of those opportunities are handed to Hall.
