Oliver Irow ‘could make Tottenham debut v Leicester’ after ‘brilliant’ moment
Ange Postecoglou will need to call on some of the younger players at Tottenham to fill his bench against Leicester City on Sunday.
Spurs will host the Foxes in the Premier League at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (26 January) – provided the match can go ahead after a MET Office update.
Postecoglou is under serious pressure in North London, with Daniel Levy being told to hire Andoni Iraola after a £10million Bournemouth exit development.
Therefore, the Australian is in desperate need of three points – especially considering Spurs currently sit 15th in the Premier League and are playing a Leicester side who have lost seven matches on the bounce.
However, with the number of players unavailable due to injury, victory won’t come easy for Spurs, and with so many first-team players set to miss out, there will be a lot of gaps in the Tottenham squad.
Therefore, this is the perfect opportunity for Postecoglou to hand Oliver Irow the opportunity to demonstrate what he is capable of.
Oliver Irow to feature for Tottenham v Leicester City?
Irow has risen through the ranks at Hotspur Way, with the 18-year-old currently representing the club’s Under-21s. However, he is yet to be handed a first-team opportunity at his boyhood club.
Several of Spurs’ talented young players have made their debuts under Postecoglou, including the likes of Alfie Dorrington and Callum Olusesi. Therefore, even getting a spot on the bench as a young player is competitive.
However, after Irow’s performance in Spurs’ 2-1 Premier League International Cup win over Dinamo Zagreb’s Under-21s at Hotspur Way on Wednesday (22 January), it is clear that the youngster deserves a chance.
Irow scored both goals to win Wayne Burnett’s side the match, with his first strike described as “a brilliant first-time finish” via the club’s official website (22 January).
As a result, Postecoglou is bound to have taken notice.

And if he is looking for young players to make up places in the squad on Sunday, he should look no further than Irow, who deserves a chance to show his skillset.
In other Tottenham news, Harry Redknapp has shared a “serious” Postecoglou sack claim.
