Ashley Phillips could feature for Tottenham v Burnley as first-team training footage emerges

Alfie Devine and Ashley Phillips have been spotted in first-team training with Tottenham following their loan spell in the Championship with Plymouth Argyle.

Ange Postecoglou has some fresh options at his disposal ahead of the final three games of the Premier League campaign.

Spurs will host Burnley at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday (11 May).

And ahead of the clash, the club have shared footage of a first-team training session at Hotspur Way (via Tottenham Hotspur Official Website, 9 May).

What is most notable from the footage is that Devine and Phillips have both returned to North London.

The Spurs teenagers joined Plymouth Argyle in January and have spent the last few months playing their trade in England’s second tier.

And after the Championship season finished on Saturday 4 May, it looks as if the Tottenham duo is back and ready to make an impact.

Ange Postecoglou could hand Ashley Phillips first-team minutes at Tottenham

Devine and Phillips both made quite the impact at Home Park.

Between them, they made 33 Championship appearances, with Phillips in particular standing out.

The centre-back started 80 per cent of Plymouth’s Championship games while with the club (Transfermrkt), and this experience of first-team football will have prepared him well for his return to the Premier League.

Postecoglou finds himself in something of a defensive crisis at the moment, with no senior left-backs available.

Adding another centre-back to his ranks could allow the Australian to shuffle some things around at the back.

Spurs are conceding for fun at the moment and something needs to be done defensively, and Postecoglou could look to take a gamble by throwing Phillips in at the deep end against Burnley.
