Ange Postecoglou must keep an eye on Tottenham U18s star Oliver Irow

Ange Postecoglou appears to have his pick of talent among the Tottenham Under-18s after their big win in the FA Youth Cup.

Spurs advanced to the last eight of the prestigious youth competition by thrashing Bournemouth Under-18s 6-2 at the Cherry Red Records Stadium in Wimbledon on Tuesday 6 February.

It was the kind of performance which underlined Tottenham’s credentials as real contenders to lift the trophy this season, and a few familiar faces got themselves on the score sheet.

Mikey Moore continued his fine form with a brace, while Callum Olusesi and Damola Ajayi both found the back of the net with goals from midfield, something which Postecoglou in particular would have been pleased to see.

However, while this trio has been stealing the headlines for the Under-18s all season, Postecoglou would have also been impressed by the performance of Oliver Irow on Tuesday night.

Tottenham Under-18s star Irow is one for Postecoglou to keep an eye on

Spurs supporters will be desperate for a player to rise through their ranks and make their mark at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Not since Harry Kane has a player emerged from the academy and really captured the imagination of those in North London. However, it seems that the arrival of the next Kane might not be too far off with the amount of young exciting talent currently on display at Hotspur Way.

Moore, Jamie Donley and Alfie Dorrington are three obvious examples, but Irow demonstrated on Tuesday night that he is also one to watch.

Irow grabbed two goals and an assist as Spurs thrashed the Cherries, the 17-year-old continuing his goalscoring run in the FA Youth Cup having netted in the fourth round during the 3-1 win against Burton Albion on 16 January.

Still yet to celebrate his 18th birthday, the forward has been key for Stuart Lewis’ side this season, starting 11 games in the Under-18 Premier League South, scoring four goals and providing one assist.

While he has operated mainly on the right throughout the current campaign, he has also featured on the left and through the middle, and that versatility will have certainly caught the eye of Postecoglou.
