Ange Postecoglou could call on Tottenham gem Tynan Thompson to save his job

Ange Postecoglou should look toward the younger players to turn the tide, and Tottenham gem Tynan Thompson has shown why he could be the man.

Postecoglou could be sacked by Daniel Levy after Spurs suffered their 15th Premier League defeat of the season on Sunday (16 March).

The North London outfit were beaten 2-0 by Fulham at Craven Cottage, with one player in particular making Postecglou look stupid after his “disgraceful” performance.

The Australian opted to make seven Spurs changes in West London.

However, arguably all of the players who were brought in let Postecoglou down, apart from Mathys Tel, who was involved in an exchange with some furious Tottenham fans after full time.

Therefore, perhaps Postecoglou should look toward the academy the next time he is thinking of rotating, and Thompson has recently demonstrated why he should be the man to step up.

Thompson deserves a chance at Tottenham

Postecoglou has called on young players a lot this season, with teenage trio Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall and Mikey Moore all establishing themselves as part of the first-team squad.

Therefore, there wouldn’t be any harm in giving another young player a chance to prove himself after the March international break, and it isn’t as if Postecoglou is short of options in that department.

Luca Williams-Barnett would be the obvious example after his fine form for Spurs’ Under-18s this season. However, Thompson has also been on fire for Stuart Lewis’ side.

The 16-year-old was on target once again as Spurs’ Under-18s beat Norwich City’s Under-18s 4-0 in the Under-18 Premier League on Saturday (15 March).

His strike was described as a “stunning solo effort” via Spurs_Academy on X (15 March), and might have therefore caught Postecoglou’s attention.

Postecoglou needs something different at Tottenham

It is no secret that Spurs’ focus is on the UEFA Europa League.

However, Postecoglou can’t afford for his side to keep losing in the Premier League. Therefore, if the 59-year-old is going to rotate in the competition, he should at least make some fresh changes.

The players brought in for the game with Fulham let themselves down. As a result, something different is needed, and Thompson should be given a chance.
