Ange Postecoglou cannot ignore Tottenham sensation Will Lankshear any longer

Tottenham under-21 sensation Will Lankshear cannot be ignored any longer by first-team boss Ange Postecoglou after his nomination for a PL2 Player of the Month award.

Lankshear is the current top-scorer in the PL2 with 18 goals so far this season, and his nomination for the April award has come after scoring six goals in six games.

That impressive record extends to 11 goals in his last ten games as he continues to display that he is a class above under-21s football even at the top level.

Spurs’ under-21s are also top of the league as things stand with 46 points taken from 20 games, losing just twice despite a heavy 5-0 defeat to Crystal Palace last time out.

Will Lankshear to be promoted at Tottenham

Lankshear’s performances must have caught the eye of Postecoglou, particularly given the current crop of first-team strikers’ form after Son Heung-min has gone four games without a goal, while Richarlison has not found the net in any of his last six appearances.

Still just 19 years old, Lankshear is yet to make his professional debut for the senior side, but in proving that his ability is already a level above academy football, a shot at the first team would be a good opportunity to test his true level.

Postecoglou has spoken glowingly about a number of the young gems coming through the Tottenham academy, with Mikey Moore the latest to receive praise from the boss, hinting that he is keeping a close eye on the young players’ development.

John Wenham has previously told Tottenham News that it is more likely the striker will spend next season at Spurs rather than sealing a loan move away from the club, so a first-team feature may be on the cards.

With the boss casting a watchful eye over the outstanding players in the academy and the opportunity to remain at Spurs next season rather than head out on loan, a senior debut is surely in the pipeline for the young star.
