Why ‘magician’ Yusuf Akhamrich has been going under the radar at Tottenham

Tottenham gem Yusuf Akhamrich's loan at Leyton Orient could be ended prematurely.

That is the view of Spurs expert John Wenham, after his recent showings for the Brisbane Road side.

Akhamrich has notched three goals and one assist in seven matches in all competitions so far for the O's.

He has shown that he can handle the step up in class easily, and may well be ready for the next challenge.

Roberto De Zerbi will have a decision to make in the winter transfer window, on where the London-born star will play for the remainder of the season.

Wenham can see one particular scenario panning out.

The Lilywhite Rose account owner believes that Spurs will reassess Akhamrich's position in January.

He made a prediction that they could recall him and send him to the Championship.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he said: "Akhamrich has gone under the radar at Tottenham in recent years because he plays in the wing position where there's been Mikey Moore, Luca Williams-Barnett and Tynan Thompson.

"Yusuf has always been a good player in his own right, and he got the highest rating of any player in the EFL last midweek with a 9.9 rating.

"He grabbed himself two goals and an assist, and what's great about Yusuf is that he's come straight from League Two last year, which he smashed at Bristol Rovers.

“They absolutely loved him, and he has gone up a division to League One and looks totally the same level.

"I do wonder if Tottenham will keep an eye on this situation up until January and then there'll be Championship clubs looking and they'll call him back and move him to the Championship.

"He's just like a magician, he's a difference maker, he comes on, he scores goals, he makes things happen. He's got the ability to beat a man."

What has Richie Wellens said about Akhamrich

Richie Wellens, manager of the League One side believes that Akhamrich could become the best player in the division.

Speaking to the club's media team on Monday, he said: "I think Yusuf has got the potential to become the best player in the league."

Unfortunately for Wellens and his side, if Wenham's prediction becomes true, he may not get the chance to witness that happen.
