Tottenham wrapped up in 'PSG's Randal Kolo Muani ploy' after 'bizarre' news

Tottenham's reported interest in Randal Kolo Muani is not legitimate.

That is the view of Spurs expert John Wenham with the Lilywhites constantly being linked with the striker this summer.

Roberto De Zerbi gave the 27-year-old significant game time towards the end of the campaign.

It is hard to believe that they would sanction a permanent move, given that he scored just one goal and assisted another in the Premier League.

It is likely that they are being used as a pawn in the transfer saga that is developing over his future.

What has been said about Randal Kolo Muani to Tottenham latest?

Juventus are trying to sign Kolo Muani permanently from Paris Saint-Germain, but Spurs have been mentioned as rivals in several reports from Italy.

Wenham believes that one of the two clubs are using Tottenham's name to try and seal the deal quicker, and is stunned by the price tag of above £30million.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he said: "No chance on that, he didn't do enough while he was on loan. Although, De Zerbi relied on him last season, you've got to remember that we were without Mohammed Kudus, without Wilson Odobert, without Xavi Simons.

"So many injuries continued to build up for Tottenham that he was given a run of games, and ultimately, he didn't perform.

"I imagine that's just a ploy by either PSG or Juventus to get that deal to speed up.

"I'm also amazed at the figures involved, they're talking about £30m being rejected by PSG from Juventus for Kolo Muani.

"I know he had success there previously, but based on his loan at Tottenham last year, I would be really frustrated if Tottenham paid even £10m for him, I find that figure just absolutely bizarre."

How bad was Kolo Muani last season?

Kolo Muani was truly dismal for the majority of his time in North London.

His goal return has already been covered, and the underlying numbers behind his league campaign were not much better.

He created just 2.18 expected goals and 1.77 expected assists, while completing 42.4 per cent of his dribble attempts, per Fotmob.

The N17 side are moving on, bringing in elite targets to push forward after two miserable seasons, signing the 32-cap international would go against that.
