Tottenham set for welcome eight-figure sum after events in France at weekend
Tottenham have secured a vital boost to their finances ahead of a pivotal summer.
Spurs face important decisions in the transfer market and broader rebuild, with Daniel Levy already planning alterations to the staff.
The precarious situation surrounding Ange Postecoglou’s future also remains to be resolved, which is expected to drag on until after the Europa League final.
With transfer speculation also circling vice-captain Cristian Romero amongst others within the playing squad, the Lilywhites will welcome the financial lift they are set to receive in tackling the arduous rebuild.

Marseille expected to permanently sign Spurs loanee
Marseille have secured their place in next season’s Champions League with one game to spare after beating Le Havre 3-1 on Saturday (10 May).
One of the players who featured in that match was Spurs loanee Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who has had a vital role in the seaside club’s campaign, starting all but one game he was available for in Ligue 1.
According to L’Equipe (12 May), the French club are now in line to sign him permanently for a substantial fee of around £11million.
The central midfielder was always set to stay in France following his four-year spell in North London and represents a very select number of players Spurs could recoup most of the investment from.

Hojbjerg decision could come back to haunt Spurs
Hojbjerg had become one of the first names on Tottenham‘s teamsheet since his arrival from Southampton in August 2020, but that changed following Postecoglou’s arrival.
Player | Starting eleven | Substituted in |
Bissouma | 27 | 7 |
Sarr | 26 | 2 |
Bentancur | 13 | 10 |
Hojbjerg | 8 | 28 |
The Australian still relied heavily on the Danish international, though he mainly limited the midfielder to substitute appearances, often bringing him on to close out games.
Whilst his footballing attributes did not align with the manager’s vision, he always brought a hard work ethic and plenty of experience, something Postecoglou has bemoaned about lacking this season.
With a new manager likely to enter the building, Hojbjerg may well have proved a useful asset to a squad lacking in leadership qualities.
