Tottenham make approach to beat Manchester City to brand new midfield transfer

Tottenham are looking to add depth in midfield ahead of next season, with Daniel Levy already making moves in the market.

Spurs’ shambolic performances this season have mounted serious pressure on Ange Postecoglou, with rallying cries from the Tottenham faithful to make changes at the helm.

While Postecoglou’s position remains under heavy scrutiny, it is also clear that the North London outfit will need to revitalise their squad next season by bringing in fresh faces.

Tottenham chairman Levy is also under pressure and only a successful summer transfer window will turn the tide for Spurs.

Tottenham ready push to sign Sulc

Postecoglou has been using James Maddison sparingly in his preferred attacking midfield role, providing 14 goal contributions in 25 Premier League games, yet his performances have been erratic at times.

When fit and playing, there is hardly a player more effective than Maddison in the attacking midfield role, however, Spurs cannot just rely on the Englishman to deliver the goals.

Dejan Kulusevski has also played an important role too, coming clutch with 11 goal contributions, but despite that, Spurs are looking to invest in another attacking midfielder.

According to Czech publication Efotbal.cz, Tottenham have made an approach for Viktoria Plzen attacking midfielder Pavel Sulc.

Sulc has also been highly efficient in the UEFA Europa League, providing six goal contributions in 10 games. His impressive numbers have attracted the attention of several English clubs.

Spurs have enquired about the midfielder. Meanwhile, Manchester City and Leeds United have also sent scouts to watch the Czech Republic midfielder.

Although there are no offers at the table, Sulc is waiting for his big transfer and several English sides are circling in ahead of the summer already.

Time ticking for Ange Postecoglou?

It is expected that Spurs will finish in the bottom half of the table this season as they currently sit 13th with 33 points, 14 points adrift of a top four spot.

In fact, they are separated by just one point from 16th placed Everton.

While relegation is not a concern for the North London side, poor performance and failure to secure European football next season will be seen as a huge dent in the hopes of Postecoglou continuing as Spurs boss.

Tottenham’s only hope of European football is winning the Europa League. They finished fourth in the league phase and are 1-0 down against AZ Alkmaar, with the second leg to come next week.

That second leg will be huge for Spurs and Postecoglou.
