Tottenham line up new signing amid Fabrizio Romano exit news on Destiny Udogie

Tottenham risk losing Destiny Udogie after a nightmare of a season under Ange Postecoglou.

Spurs have been an embarrassment this season, having suffered 17 Premier League defeats and fallen to 15th place in the table.

The North London giants have missed out on both domestic cup competitions and face a similar fate in the UEFA Europa League, in which they face Eintracht Frankfurt in the second leg away from home on Thursday (17 April) after playing out a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture.

Daniel Levy is poised to receive several requests to leave the club this summer, especially if they fail to qualify for European football next season.

Tottenham eye new signing amid Udogie exit news

Udogie is among the players who could leave Tottenham this summer despite having an inconsistent season.

The left-back impressed in Postecoglou’s first season as the Spurs manager, but has regressed like many of his teammates this season.

However, it appears Udogie’s reputation remains intact, with Manchester City interested in signing him, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Spurs, though, have no plans to part ways with the 22-year-old and ‘definitely’ want to have him at the club next season, according to Florian Plettenberg.

The Sky Sports Germany journalist reported via his personal X handle (16 April) that Udogie remains a ‘key’ player for the London-based club, who are thus refusing to put a price tag on him.

Nevertheless, Tottenham are likely to sign a new left-back this summer as they look to add competition in the left-back department.

Spurs must cash in on key players

Spurs will have to cash in on some of their players to strengthen their squad for next season in the event that they do not qualify for European football.

Therefore, Udogie would be an option to be sold, considering his value and the interest from Manchester City.

Cristian Romero is another player Tottenham could sell to fund moves for Levy’s top targets.

There are suggestions that the Lilywhites could cash in on the Argentina international to sign £50million-rated Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth.
