Tottenham in advanced talks to complete new loan signing – Fabrizio Romano

Tottenham are in advanced talks to sign Timo Werner on a second loan deal from RB Leipzig, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Writing via his personal X account on Tuesday (28 May), Romano reported that Werner, 28, will stay at Spurs until June 2025 under the same conditions as the deal that was signed when he joined the London club from Leipzig in January.

The ex-Chelsea forward played 14 times in all competitions for Spurs, scoring two goals before a thigh injury ended his season in late April.

Who will Tottenham sign this summer?

Ange Postecoglou has wasted no time in getting Werner tied down for another year – and you can see why.

Spurs’ Premier League season tailed off massively around Christmas with them eventually finishing outside of the top four and almost dropping down to sixth on the final day.

Werner came in during January and definitely helped out a lot by assisting two goals in his first two appearances and then going on to score in wins over Crystal Palace and Aston Villa.

Unfortunately, his injury in April left Postecoglou short of options in the attack – and that is where the Aussie could look to continue making signings this summer.

Richarlison has been linked with a move away so a replacement could be needed up front for him with no one coming in last year to be the ‘new Harry Kane’ in North London.

If anyone else leaves – such as a Pierre-Emile Hjojberg – they will also need to be replaced by Spurs’ major issues definitely lie in the attack.
