Tottenham hero Dele Alli agrees terms with new club – Fabrizio Romano
Tottenham hero Dele Alli has agreed a deal to sign for Serie A outfit Como, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian journalist reported via X (18 January) that the ex-Spurs man will sign a contract until 2026 on Sunday (19 January).
While Spurs were in line to receive a transfer windfall following his sale to Everton, the impending move to Como after the expiry of his deal at Goodison Park voids any profit.
However, despite the former England international being mooted with a return to North London, he will end his spell in the Premier League for perhaps the final time for an Italian adventure.
ex-Tottenham man Dele Alli signs for Como
The 28-year-old quickly announced himself to the Premier League at Tottenham following his £5 million move from MK Dons in February 2015.
Alli became one of the most promising young talents in English football during his time in North London before injuries and off-the-pitch troubles stunted his development.
His move North to Premier League rivals Everton was intended to salvage what remained of a once-promising career, but even a loan move to Super Lig giants Besiktas was made in vain, as he was released following the end of his contract on Merseyside.
However, Spurs remain content with the deal they received to end Alli’s spell at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but many supporters are still left wondering what went wrong with Alli.
Nevertheless, supporters of both Everton and the Lilywhites will wish the midfielder nothing but the best as he lands another golden opportunity to play top-flight football.
Como are tirelessly battling against relegation in Serie A under ex-Arsenal and Chelsea star Cesc Fabregas and will benefit significantly from Alli’s extensive experience in England.
More importantly, he can focus on his football out of the eyes of the ruthless English press and get back to enjoying the sport that so many fans worldwide once loved to watch him play.
