Tottenham could seal double Lille free transfer masterclass
Tottenham have spoken with the representatives of two Lille stars over summer free transfer moves, according to TBR Football.
Ange Postecoglou’s side find themselves in 11th place in the Premier League and have recorded just one win in their last seven matches in all competitions.
There have been complaints that the Lilywhites did not do enough to strengthen their squad last summer and it appears that the club are trying to make this right.
The report [10 December] states that talks have taken place with representatives of Jonathan David and Angel Gomes with both players keen to leave Les Dogues when their contracts expire.
Very shrewd moves for Tottenham?
Daniel Levy and the ENIC group who own the club are known for their frugality and have spent a total of just £194million on the club, £94m on the initial takeover and £100m in funding since 2001 [18 November, The Athletic].
The club spent approximately £122m last summer, with the marquee addition being striker Dominic Solanke for a fee of £65m from Bournemouth.
However, the rest of that money was spent on young players with the likes of Archie Gray, Wilson Odobert and Lucas Bergvall all under the age of 20 and not yet making a big impact on the first-team squad.

The two Lille players would represent a very clever move from the club if they could secure the signing of two high quality additions for free.
However, it would not help arrest their poor form right now as they would have to wait until the summer for the new men to arrive.
Securing two high-profile players for free would give the fanbase a boost for sure and it would be the type of move that Levy and ENIC would go for.
