Tottenham 'could bank £25m' as Pape Matar Sarr exit route emerges
Tottenham could demand £25million to let Pape Matar Sarr leave.
That is the view of Spurs expert John Wenham, who believes that midfield additions could push the Senegal ace out of North London.
Roberto De Zerbi is eyeing moves for Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes, which leaves little space for the young hopefuls in the squad.
Wenham thinks that Tottenham will sign both targets, which will open the door to potential exits.
Lucas Bergvall has been heavily linked with a departure, after falling out of the manager's plans.
However, Sarr could be another casualty of the new additions, with an exit potentially on the cards.
Why Tottenham could demand more for Pape Matar Sarr sale
Sarr played 37 times for Spurs last season in all competitions, but just four of them appearances came under the Italian.
He did not start at all in the new boss' seven games, and Wenham thinks that could signal that an exit is likely.
He believes that Spurs could demand slightly more if a top-flight club come in for his signature.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he said: “I could see Pape Sarr going.
“I think he'll command a far lower fee, probably £20m or £15m, something like that. There was rumoured interest from Brentford in him.
“If a Premier League club comes in for him, then maybe he could push towards £25m.”
Should Tottenham give Sarr another chance before brushing him aside?
Tottenham have not seen the best of Sarr yet, and they can't wait for him to develop into the player that they need him to be.
He notched two goals and four assists in his league appearances last season, in a total of 1,389 minutes.
The underlying numbers are not too impressive as he averaged 1.10 shots and 0.71 chances created on a per 90 basis, according to Fotmob data.
Defensively, his numbers make for encouraging reading, with 2.14 tackles, 4.98 ball recoveries and 3.04 clearances.
Ultimately, if they get a decent fee for his services, that covers some of their expenditure, they would be foolish not to take it.
